Here’s an easy gluten-free stir-fry recipe. The beef is fried until crispy and then coated with an orange-flavored Chinese cooking sauce. Serve with rice and steamed broccoli florets.
1 lb beef top sirloin, cut in thin slices
Cooking Sauce:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
3/4 Tbs soy sauce (gluten-free)
1 1/2 Tbs fresh orange juice
1/2 tsp salt
In a small bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the cooking sauce and set aside.
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 cups vegetable oil
1 Tbs minced garlic
2 Tbs minced fresh ginger
2 tsp orange zest
Press the beef strips between layers of paper towels to remove excess moisture. Heat the oil in a wok or frying pan over medium-high heat. In a medium bowl, toss the beef strips with the cornstarch to coat. Fry the beef in small batches until light brown and crispy; remove to a plate. Pour off all the oil except 1 tablespoon. Add the garlic, ginger and orange zest to the pan and stir-fry for 1 minute. Add the cooking sauce to the pan and bring to a boil; stir until thickened. Add the beef and stir with the sauce (about 3 minutes). Serve immediately with cooked rice and steamed broccoli florets.
